InhibOx Ltd. in Oxford, U.K. and COSMIC Discoveries in Hyderabad, India, signed a partnership to offer drug discovery services combining their computational, medicinal, and synthetic chemistry capabilities. Both companies are spin-off enterprises of academic or research institutions — Oxford University and the Institute of Life Sciences, respectively.

InhibOx provides computational drug discovery services, and has developed the use of cloud computing to offer computer-aided drug discovery capabilities to biotech and pharmaceutical companies. The company was founded by Graham Richards, former chair of the chemistry department at Oxford University.

COSMIC Discoveries is an independent service enterprise of the Institute of Life Sciences, founded by Javed Iqbal, also director of the institute. COSMIC Discoveries brings to the partnership its expertise in medicinal and synthetic chemistry, covering numerous therapeutic areas and disease targets.

The partnership aims to provide a single source of integrated expertise in computational, medicinal, and synthetic chemistry, which the companies say are usually provided independently. In addition to offering drug discovery services, the companies will collaborate on the design of new candidate molecules developed by COSMIC Discoveries.
