Patent Public Advisory Committee to Meet on 8 July

The Patent Public Advisory Committee to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) meets on Thursday, 8 July 2010 to review USPTO’s policies and operations related to patents. This session is the group’s fourth of this year.

The patent advisory committee reviews the policies, goals, budget, and user fees set by USPTO, and provides recommendation’s to the agency’s director. The nine-member group chaired by Damon C. Matteo also provides an annual report to the Secretary of Commerce and chairs of the congressional judiciary committees.

The meeting takes place from 8:00 am to 1:30 pm at USPTO’s Madison South Auditorium in Alexandria, Virginia, and is accessible as an online Webcast. The agenda includes a review of USPTO strategy and operations, legislative and judicial updates (including the recent Supreme Court Bilski vs Kappos decision), and reports on process improvement and information technology initiatives.
