21 Aug. 2021. As most the world’s countries struggle to vaccinate their citizens against Covid-19, rates of fully vaccinated people in developed countries vary widely. The public data collection site Our World in Data tracks vaccination rates in many countries, and the business research company Statista displayed those rates yesterday for eight developed countries, as of Aug. 18.

The chart shows United Arab Emirates reports about three-quarters (73%) of its population is fully vaccinated against Covid-19, followed by Singapore with seven 10 (71%), and roughly six in 10 in Israel (63%) and the U.K. (60%). Germany (58%), France (54%), and the U.S. (51%) report half to six in 10 residents are fully vaccinated. Japan, which recently hosted the Olympics, has only four in 10 (40%) of its population fully vaccinated.

World of Data reports as of yesterday, some 4.9 billion Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered worldwide, with 35 million doses given each day. Nonetheless, only about a third of the world’s population (32%) received one vaccine dose so far, and only about a quarter (24%) is fully vaccinated.
