Integra LifeSciences of Plainsboro, New Jersey announced the opening of its Center for Research, Education and Training in Irvine, California. The new facility will offer hands-on simulated surgical training, as well as a laboratory for research and development for Integra’s products. The center will hold its first session for spine surgeons on 21 September 2010.
The company says the center provides 2,800 square feet of classroom and lab space. The facility has four simulated surgical stations, like those in an an operating room, which allow surgeons to practice procedures on cadaveric specimens and test new products. It also includes instruments for use in orthopedic procedures, as well as fluoroscopy and endoscopy imaging systems.
Integra LifeSciences is a developer of medical devices used in orthopedics, neurosurgery and general surgery.
