Kemin Industries in Des Moines, Iowa said the company plans in the next five years to add six new manufacturing facilities, three new research facilities, and a new corporate headquarters building in Des Moines.  The company develops nutritional ingredients for foods, animal feeds, and pharmaceuticals based largely on its own research.

The $30 million expansion is expected to create 98 new jobs in the areas of research, marketing, information technology, and other functions. Chris Nelson, Kemin’s president, told Radio Iowa that the company plans to recruit worldwide, but hopes to tap into two of the state universities — Iowa State and the University of Iowa  — to fill some of the jobs.

Kemin Industries is a privately held corporation that operates in 60 countries, with manufacturing facilities in China, Singapore, Thailand, India, South Africa, Belgium, Brazil and the United States.
