Cloud computing is a resource used more and more throughout the technology world, and at Science & Enterprise, we’ve reported on many new projects and programs taking advantage of near unlimited storage and power that cloud computing offers. All of these cloud computing applications also require more data centers, the subject of this weekend’s infographic.
Our friends at Statista document the explosion in demand for and investment in data centers, from data collected by the real estate market research firm CBRE. In 2017 alone, investment in North American data centers nearly tripled to $20 billion, from $7.7 billion in 2016. And as noted in the text, “there’s little indication for this upward trend to end anytime soon.”
